Telephone: 864-845-3402Bridges A bridge is an excellent way to replace missing teeth. The procedure is very similar to that of a crown and usually made with similar materials (most commonly porcelain fused to metal) in a lab. Unlike a partial a bridge does not come in and out. It is cemented just like a crown to the teeth on either side of the missing teeth. Implant Restorations An Implant is also an excellent way to replace missing teeth. Unlike a bridge, an implant does not require support from the teeth on either side of the missing tooth. It stands alone. An implant is a two step procedure. The implant is a titanium screw like structure that is placed surgically (usually by an oral surgeon or a periodontist) and fuses with the bone. A healing cap is placed and we wait about four months. Then the patient returns to the general dentist, the healing cap is removed, and an impression is made. A lab fabricates a crown that fits onto the implant. There are other prosthetics that can be supported by implants as well such as an implanted supported bridge, partial, or even a full denture. Partials and Full Dentures A partial or denture is recommended whenever a patient is missing several teeth. Dentures have come a long way aesthetically. They immulate natural looking teeth better than ever before. There are many different designs for partials/ dentures. FootbridgeFamily DentalProsthetics![]() ProstheticsRyan M.
